As a rapidly growing campus with a diverse range of degree and diploma programs, ESOFT Kandy faced challenges in managing its physical and digital library resources. Manually tracking book loans, return dates, and student membership records led to operational inefficiencies, frequent lost resources, and difficulty in providing real-time availability status to students.
Our Solution
We developed a robust, centralized Library Management System (LMS) to digitize and automate library workflows. Key features included: Automated Circulation Management: Seamless check-in and check-out processes using QR/Barcode scanning for student ID cards and book labels. Digital Resource Cataloging: A searchable database allowing students to check the availability of books, journals, and reference materials in real-time. Automated Notifications: Email/SMS alerts for students regarding upcoming due dates and overdue fines to ensure resource circulation. Comprehensive Analytics: Admin dashboards for librarians to monitor borrowing patterns, most popular titles, and overall library usage statistics to aid in future acquisition decisions. Multi-Role Access: Secure logins for Students (to reserve books), Librarians (to manage inventory), and Administrators (to generate reports).

With over 105 computer terminal labs and hundreds of students and staff members connecting via personal devices daily, ESOFT Kandy needed a highly secure, reliable, and high-speed network. The campus faced challenges with bandwidth choking due to unauthorized downloads, lack of centralized control over the 105 workstations, and the need for a secure, authenticated guest wireless system to separate student traffic from internal staff data.

Our Solution We designed and deployed an enterprise-grade network topology focusing on high-density performance, centralized management, and ironclad edge security. Next-Gen Security & Filtering: Implemented a Sophos Firewall to act as the primary defense line, enforcing strict Web and Application Filtering to block malicious content, optimize bandwidth, and prioritize educational traffic. Core Routing & Segmentation: Deployed a Cisco Layer 3 Switch to handle inter-VLAN routing, ensuring traffic separation and high-speed data transfer between computer labs, administrative offices, and wireless zones. Centralized Identity Management: Set up a Windows Server environment to manage, deploy group policies, and secure all 105 client computers across the campus from a single dashboard. High-Density Wireless & Access Control: Installed Cisco Access Points paired with a modern, customized Captive Portal. This ensures that both staff and students must authenticate securely before accessing the high-speed internet.
